Wonga breach affects 'up to 270,000 in UK and Poland' - BBC News http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-39544762 Er, so apparently they had all the security of a wet teabag or were hit by a sovereign state, cos that's just about all the data. |

Apart from meaningless (and generally in the scheme of things) paltry fines from the regulator (if they ever pass them) firms need to be forced to pay reasonable compensation to the end users Cifas is £20, other checks and maybe even changing bank account’s etc is a hassle – I think any data breach should have an automatic fine of around £100 / person breached paid to that person for the inconvenience plus any direct costs where actual fraud takes place. – so in the case of Wonga it would cost them £27M+ – it would make firms have good security as its then worth it to them to have it |

Somehow, I can't imagine people who take out Wonga loans are of all that much interest to a foreign states's cyber intelligence department. |
