For once a short film to educate young drivers that doesn't fall shy of showing the consequences. It's powerful stuff. BBC Clicky

Might help a bit, but what would help more would be a film showing someone getting banged up for 5 years for texting at the wheel. There's no 'middle ground' on texting while driving, so why not make an example of people and chuck 'em away for doing it?

I'll put my hand up and say I've done it before. I had no idea it was more dangerous than drink driving. Interesting reading.

I saw the video elsewhere. I think I once tried to text but stopped before I realised I was about to mount the central reservation of a dual carriageway. Only ever checked my phone to see if someone was calling/had texted but now I'm put off even that.

I can't believe you lot. I never even look at my mobile when I'm driving, and if someone texts me or calls me then it can go unread/unanswered until I've fully stopped.

My phone's off when I'm driving, unless there's someone in the car with me who can deal with it.

+1 No offence to forumites, but I hope if you do it in future that plod do you for driving without due care and attention. There's no excuse for putting other road users lives in danger.

The pandas were cute, not so sure about the masks...

The advert for holidays in China at the beginning of the video...

That's something I've always done. But I still checked once in a while when there was a vibration to see whether it was the phone or the car or something else. For me, it takes as much effort and distraction as to change to a different track on my stereo.

The only time I'll ever use my phone in the car is if I'm stationary in traffic. Then I'll text, usually to say I'm going to be late.
Doing it on the move is sooo dangerous!!!

Well said. The only time I use a mobile in a car is when I've taken it off the driver to tell whoever's on the other end that the driver is busy.
