Theresa May battles a sore throat and prankster in conference speech So, in summary... Lee Nelson (Simon Brodkin) got through all the security at the conference and handed her a mocked up P45 She kept coughing The letters on the slogan behind her fell off I must confess that I can't stand the Lee Nelson character but kudos on that achievement. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say she'll probably wish that went a bit better. |

maybe May managed at least to get to the end of the speech (just) and the only worthwhile point i could see was about social housing ... |

Indeed, several of the most interesting bits of her speech were basically watered down versions of Labour policy. |

Build more council houses. Sell to occupiers under right to buy scheme. Need more council houses. Seems a bit daft. Unless the new housing is protected from being bought, I don’t see the point. |

The whole Right to Buy thing is daft. It was done purely to try and turn Labour voters into Tories. It probably did in some cases but it broke the housing system in the process. |
