Doctors stunned to find huge air pocket where part of man's brain should be  Those scans are scary. I really didn't think the brain would be that compressible (you know, without some very serious side effects).

The brain can accommodate quite a large mass if it's gradual. I once had a patient who had a history of falls and personality change who was admitted. We arranged a CT head and found a tumour the size of the tennis ball. Because it was slow growing (over many years), the patient had no symptoms until the brain was no longer compressible and it started to affect brain function.
