https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/09/1 ... a_reports/They are selling information and email addresses about people making reviews about products to the sellers / manufacturers, who are then contacting them and offering them goods to change reviews. The staff were also offering to delete less flattering reviews. Amazon say they have no knowledge of such actions and are investigating the allegations. It seems to be concentrated in China.

I'd already heard about manufacturers approaching Amazon customers for "reviews" which will boost up the ratings of the product. Subsequent reviews from real customers tend to be negative or poor because the product was hyped up. I'd no idea Amazon employees were involved. It does show that you have to be wary of product reviews.

Stuff the reviews, the important / bad bit is that they are selling customer details!

They are selling customer details to those people they gave bad reviews too. If that doesn’t go wrong...

Exactly.
Whether you can trust the reviews is, in this situation, irrelevant. The damage is that Amazon employees are handing over customer contact information to people who have a grudge against them.
