Funnily enough I was looking at a TV in a shop the other day which was showing the BBC HD sample (whatever its called) and I honestly thought it looked rubbish. It was on a couple of different TVs too so it wasnt so much the TV. |

Never trust what you see when looking at a TV in a shop. They are never set up properly and the lighting is completely different to a typical living room. Jon |

It wasnt the TV setup im sure. I've seen these previous BBC HD samples some time ago and they looked great on most of the TVs on display. Same shop now but a newer BBC HD sample and it barely looks HD. |

Quote pyramid.... Anywhoo.... the content is sent from a main server (usually some base PC in the shop) and outputted over vast length of cables and distributed to a number of tv's so the actual image has to be shared across multiple sets so the quality is deteriorated If in doubt do what richersounds reccommend.... take in your own stuff to try with it, hook it up and see (or bring planet earth and set up up on a blu ray player) The tv's arent properly calibrated but whack it on a movie mode as a rough idea to quality at the worst (as it could be better with proper calibration) For the article.... they have probably been testign different p/i-frame strategies as well as a switch to a new form of h.264 as they were on h264 before |
