After reading about the losses I will happily stick with cables. Having to use 25% extra power because of this system will make plasmas as energy hungry as a kettle. Though since this is just a prototype it really is not a major problem.

Any replacement for cables also has to bring energy efficiences with it...
We use too much electricity as it is. Each new generation of computers I buy, I look at reducing the power output. That's why I switched from standard Windows desktops to the iMac - it was more powerful and yet used a fraction of the power over the old machine.
It is one of the reasons I am replacing the girls' old Celeron machines with Mac minis...
