This is going to be about as popular as Gordon Brown. In the Middle East. On an especially holy day. Eating a bacon sandwich and drinking Stella

Depending on any side effects, it is better than most of what we tend to inflict on women, when it comes to prophylactics.

I'm considering the snip at the moment, a needle in the rump every couple of months might be an alternative... I suppose it all depends on the side effects in the long run.

I'm fairly sure there's something like this for women... one of my exes was on it.

Genius thing, she got a jab in the bum every 3 months and the only side effects she suffered were the lack of that "time of the month" and a massively increased sex drive - something which I didn't complain about...

What's the need for this tbh? Except to encourage men to sleep around even more?

Given what women have to go through... I think it is great if men have to accept responsibility for a change.

Pill - lots of side effects, including thrombosis, weight gain, higher risk for some cancer.

Coil - uncomfortable to have put in, needs replacing every few years. Not 100% reliable, doesn't cope with some forms of pregnancy, like the egg fertalizing in the ovary ducts.

Hormone Coil - uncomfortable to have put in, needs replacing every few years, can only have a limited number.

Morning after pill - needs prescription, huge dose of hormones, not usable as a means of contraception, just for emergencies.

Sterilisation - major operation, upsets hormonal balance forever.

Hormone slow release - fits under the skin, slow release of high hormone doses.

These are either very invasive or require huge doses of hormones to screw up the woman's natural balance. None of them are good!

For men? We get it relatively easy.

Condom - carry a piece of rubber around and Bob's your uncle. Only have to worry about it splitting or slipping off before withdrawal. Some men find a lack of sensitivity when wearing one - I say that's just the male condition.

Vasectomy - quick and simple operation, is possible to reverse in some instances. Made on out-patient basis. Much less invasive than female equivalent.

Depending on what the male jab actually contains, it could be a much better prospect. Dosing people up with unnaturally large doses of hormones isn't a good solution and the rest of the options for women are very invasive.

I'll gladly volunteer for this, if the clinic will also provide me with a sex life.

You beat me to it

I find a total abstinence from sex to be a very effective way of avoiding fatherhood :(

Sadly, I've just realised that a sex life is not a requirement to check the efficacy of the treatment... :(

But that is what your hand is for. Sex with someone who truly loves you. :D

Was it Woody Allen who said 'Masturbation is just sex with my favourite person'?

Shouldn’t that be “Man and women wanted to test contraceptive”? After all, the thing will only work if there are no pregnancies.

Not really...

Sadly, science has ways of checking the health of your lil wrigglers, without the need for any partner whatsoever. Which might be a bit of a relief if you were to be relying on this method to prevent life occurring.

Yes it was originally a Woody Allen quote.
