How come so many stars some how screw up their tax issues. It is not as if they can't afford it.

Have you seen the way Nic Cage behaves just in his films? ;)

By most accounts, Snipes (for instance) appears to be an absolute ball bag, so it's not inconceivable that he wouldn't try his luck with the tax game either...

They'll all get caught eventually, but I guess the smart ones earn off what they aren't paying in the meantime for the inevitable outcome... then hire a good lawyer ;)

Isn't Snipes doing three years for tax evasion in Club Fed? Regardless of their acting and prancing about they should pay tax. If not you just set a bad example for everyone else.

He's free while his appeal is going through, which seems to give him time to work (he had to turn The Expendables as he'd have to travel outside the US :) ).

It's probably the fact that few people ever tell them they can't do something, or expect to get away with it because they have for so long, that sees stars avoid tax etc.

Yes but that does mean we can expect to see more stars doing time. :D

Probably for the same reasons that most sports pros go bankrupt about 10 years after retiring. These people aren't business people, they're performers.
Clicky for probably the only Sports Illustrated article I've read that doesn't include bikinis somewhere.
