Chris Huhne, Lib-Dem Shadow Home Secretary thinks so. Clicky.

Is the media biased? Yes.
There's hardly ever any coverage of Neighbours in the media sections.

I'm bein' fick an' vat, but I don't follow what you mean. Huhne's contention is the media generally only considers a two-party (ie, Labour / Conservative) aspect to many stories. Other parties never seem to get a look-in, and it's not helping with the perception of politics in general, leading to the idea that the media is biased against any party opinion that isn't Labour or Conservative. I agree with him.

It’s actually one party aspects to many stories. The Labour/Conservative parties are allied in all but name. They seem to agree more and more, and yet like to argue about how much they disagree. The LibDems would offer a different view point, but are kept out of the equation because the consumer of the media’s output is deemed to be too mentally fragile to bother them with more than one view per story. The further away from the LabCon position on things you get, the less likely you are to hear about them. Unless, it seems, your party is the BNP or UKIP.

He may not be able to, but why can't the rest of us? Taking a turn off the main thread, how will minority parties get any traction to change the status quo at the next general election if all we hear about is the main parties, or even just the "main two" parties? We're pretty much all agreed, I think, that the current system is broken. We've just got to work out how to mend it. Getting better media coverage will be a help.

When you say "we're" all agreed, to whom are you referring? It would appear that there are a great many people out there (probably the majority) who are quite happy with the status quo and will just vote Dave in because Gordon's done it all wrong. They not require, or want, any other opinions/coverage/information. I might agree with you that the system is broken, but I don't imagine for one second that I can do anything about it. My only options are to either withdraw myself from the process in as much as is practically possible, or just not care. Or both.

I kind of meant "we" as in those of us who visit this forum. Sadly, the vast majority of voters either vote the same no matter what, or never even bother to get out and vote in the first place.

I thought you did. I guess I was being somewhat argumentative as a result of my anger at the situation.

I would not say that they were outrageously biased. The BBC might be a little more left wing than the press, but they balance out. In many ways they avoid the real issues like poverty or inequality of incomes, because it is just not sexy enough.
