I currently find the Church to be more 'chilling' on a regular basis than the BNP I have to say

There are people out there calling themselves Christians who are just as racist and homophobic as the BNP.

Yes, I know one who'd like to see the problems in the Middle East solved once and for all with a nuke or two...

Just you mentioning homophobia, some of the quotes from this are priceless:

Nick Griffin: ex-NF leader Martin Webster offered me underage gay sex

Oh, and this guy's probably got a lot more internet traffic than he's used to recently:

Can we not arrange a Nick Griffin photo op in front of a big "Liam Bentley" sign? 8-)

Christians reject most people, so this won't be a problem for them. They'll happily reject other people who believe in the oddly Caucasian hippy from the middle east who invented Christmas but argue over the finer details. They'll also reject most people who aren't white, male & straight - love thy neighbour, as long as he goes to the same church.

Really?

Who have I rejected then?

I have to say my experience of the Western Churches is similar to what Gav describes.

All of the 'High church' folks - and in that I place the CofE and Rome, are very friendly and 'Christian' towards 'everyone' - provided 'everyone' fits into a certain race and social class.

In my experience it's only when you get down to the 'low' churches, such as the Methodists, that you get anything approaching an egalitarian approach - and even then they'll rave about how God somehow loves all his children, but wants most of them to burn in hell.

I suspect you're one of the many decent Christians who embrace the good side and ignore the darker parts of the religion.

Just as with many other religions, the more fundamental types are blood-thirsty bigoted monsters who use "the book" to justify their selfish crimes. The old testament especially is full of stuff which is completely unacceptable in a humane society.

Don't take it personally Rusty, it is more the organisations that claim to be Christian, yet they promote very non-Christian, almost xenophobic views.

Catholics, Anglicans etc. (even Jehovah's Witnesses) can be very normal, very pleasant people. It is the organisation they belong to pray to "their" God, the one God, heck the SAME God which causes the problems (and non-Christian religions are often just as bad). They promote living together in harmony, the more extremist among their leaders and followers promote hate against non-believers, or believers in something else.

That taints a lot of people's views of religions in general.
