Nice idea but the limit is too low. It will affect more lower level staff. It needs to be around £10 000 per year, which would be a sizeable bonus for lower ranking staff, who are not really responsible for the problems. Though they will probably get around this by calling them commissions like salesmen.

Very few of these clowns who get huge "bonusses" receive them in cash, and where they do they're stipulated as "tax-paid". Share options and other scams have long been the more "tax efficient" way of being rewarded in the City, so this proposal will do nothing except inconvenience the "oirdinary" staff receiving small bonuses, without affecting the real fat cats.

Yes most will be paid in a way that gets around these rules. Unless they are ultra specific and ban all other forms of bonus these will be a waste of time.

Anybody find it ironically hypocritical that MPs are looking to curb other people's monetary excesses?

Just me then

Anybody find it "suspicious" that the MP's allowances "scandal" just happened to explode at the time when they were about to start calling the [LIFTED] and other parasites to account?

Call me paranoid, but just because......

Not at all. Though our chances of cutting MP's expenses are better than cutting those of bankers who will just go somewhere where they can get away with the same excesses.
