for a lot of businesses and employment based on that business which rely on the internet
its a god given 'right' not a privilege …

Not really - given that provision of government services online will only increase, not decrease, access to the internet is very much a right. I believe the European Union is still looking at making internet access a Universal Service Obligation.

Also, there were some concessions on this - in order to be disconnected consumers will have to go through a fair, impartial service (rather than just be accused and cut off at the behest of content owners) and the disconnection will not be indefinite.

Also, don't forget TalkTalk are fighting HMG in the Courts over this.
