"The flood of stolen content currently available online – including every major theatrical film within hours of release – poses an immediate threat to the motion picture industry, which in 2007 supported 2.5 million jobs, $41.1 billion in wages, and had a trade surplus of $13.6 billion," concludes the letter with Paramount believing that: "content creators must have the legal and regulatory flexibility to use technological tools in partnership with Internet service providers to stem the tide of online copyright theft."

Erm, IIRC cinemas are supposed to be making more money than ever, which suggests they have a good business model... And that 3D thingy seems to be quite a revenue raiser Paramount ;)

And let's not forget the infamous 'Hollywood accounting', ridiculous actor fees before you even get to the points deals, the endless remakes of IP that's already owned by the studio...

The people who watch pirated movies were never gonna pay to see it in the first instance, BUT there is a chance they'll buy it afterwards or recommend it to their friends... In the meantime, Paramount continues to be one of the wealthiest studios through Dreamworks alone :)
