CLICKYSo the government owns it again. There'll be no new trains to replace the 125's then. Governments have a history of not investing in rolling stock, they always rely on private investment for that.

Having suffered the "new trains" ( Adelantes sp )that FGW implemented to replace the 125's and that have now been withdrawn as they were so bad. I'm not sure if staying with the 125's is such a bad idea.

I actually like them. They're very comfy compares to newer trains and they're quiet inside. DMU's are no good for long distance train travel. The only issue is the stupid door system.

Given the track has been in public hands for a decade but they're still using rolling stock that went into service in 1990, it doesn't sound like there's been a lot of private investment in the trains either. Despite having a massive public cash subsidy to the run the things. Jon

Bring Back British Rail! http://www.bringbackbritishrail.org/British Rail cost less than the current "private" arrangement, even accounting for inflation (see multiple editions of Private Eye for details).\ Not only that, but under British Rail trains were more punctual, and British Rail didn't get the 10 minutes leeway before a train is deemed to be late!
