In general I think it's a good idea, but what if the kid's quite advanced but fragile, for talk's sake? It all depends how far you take it and at what speed to my mind...

Parenting isn't following a set of "rules". You tailor it to the child. Some are more fragile and require that extra relaxation of rules. Others, despite the harshest punishment, continue to misbehave.

The majority, however, will respond to tough love.

What I hate these days is the lack of parenting whatsoever.

My son is going to learn the meaning of the word "no".
I mock those hippy parent to go around saying that they'll never say no to their child.
