Halifax customers have been hit by a power failure affecting cash machines and online banking.

The bank said an external power disruption at an IT centre in Yorkshire caused problems to a range of Halifax and Bank of Scotland services.

Power has now been restored, and the company says it is working to get services back to normal.

A spokesman said: "We apologise to customers for the disruption and inconvenience this is causing."

Branches are open for customers as usual.

This affected my friend this morning.
I suppose this was somewhat outside of Halifax's control but I sort of expect a bit more resilience for such a large banking group.
Haven't these people heard of UPS and fail over to another site?
