Having been offline for over a year, the LHC has overcome its myriad problems and is ready to hunt for the elusive Higgs boson once more.

Can't believe it's been a year that's gone by already

And how cool is the LHC? :D

Well, it's been a nice universe. I wonder what the next one will be like?

Well, if we're gonna go, it might as well be with a bang (probably) :D

I like the paper about the possibility of the future attempting to stop the experiments to prevent the end of the universe.

For anyone vaguely interested in time travel let me recommend an excellent Spanish film called Les Cronocrimenes (aka Time Crimes) a wonderfully understated, gripping and amusing variation on movie time travel paradoxes.

Doesn't one of the theories go (was it Hawking?) that although time travel is possible, we don't have time traveling tourists because you would only be able to travel through the time periods in which time travel is possible?

Anyhoo, they've successfully collided two protons (low energy collision though) so it looks like it's going to plan.

Interesting to see the doomsday prophecies have disappeared this time around. Must be because the 'X-Factor' and 'I'm A Celebrity' are taking up the column inches in the relevant papers at the moment...

I've not heard that theory before, interesting.

You're right about the moron drone "entertainment" shows taking up the "news", if this had happened in the summer we'd be staring down a black hole according to the sun and mirror.
