it would have been better and cheaper for the Govt. to have guaranteed all savings/money in all bank accounts for all customers and let the banks fold then nationalise the whole banking system that way the bankers would have been on the streets and in the gutter instead of them still collecting bonuses that we are paying for … |

It's an interesting question. When someone defaults on their loan or makes a bad investment, no money actually vanishes. The money has been spent and is in the pockets of someone else. The fact that some British banks were and are in trouble simply means that the people with all the money are not banking with them. I'm guessing they're banking abroad for various reasons. That raises the question, why are British banks unattractive to investors? I suggest it's because £sterling is unattractive. Perhaps if we'd gone with the Euro already, none of this would have happened. |
