HD DTS TV-on-demand isn't a killer app then?

Few offer this service because people won't use it, and people won't use it because the bandwidth isn't there, and the bandwidth isn't there because the Telcos are in bed with the businesses with an interest in the status quo.

Death to the Opposition!

How about not just "making do" for a change? How about having something that isn't scraping the bottom of what is considered acceptable for a supposedly developed country?

Unfortunately British companies and public authorities have a rather poor track record in this regard. I guess it's cultural.

Germany FTW!

What a stupid statement.

What about IPTV?

With skyplayer on media centre (WIndows 7) & the success of the iplayer I'd say the thirst for bandwidth is even greater (I hate having to use our 10Mb line at work when I'm used to 50Mb at home)

There is no need for a 50mb line for IPTV, you simply dont need the bandwidth

a 1mb connection can deliver SD content, 8mb (actual 8mb, not up to) can deliver 720p content.

I suppose 20mb or something could be 1080p, but nothing needing 50mb

And the speed you would get capped at would make your head spin lol, you would probably be slowed down after a film!

20Mb is oversubscribed where I am, 50Mb means you actually get close to what you pay for)

1080p works well though
