Apparently, he was taking photos of a sunset, which could be helpful to terrorists or some such [LIFTED].

Anyway, he’s on Andrew Marr’s show talking about it.

Damn dangerous those sunset pictures.. they could inspire people to go "oooh", "aaaah" and not forgetting that horrifying "thats quite nice".

Perhaps you could send him one of your balaclavas. He might even lend it to the photographer chap next time he's taking pictures outside Westminster.

;) :P   :etc:

Day 1 - stand outside Tate Modern with a compact camera. Take a load of photos.

Day 2 - Stand outside Tate Modern with big DSLR & “[LIFTED] off” lens. Take the same photos as the previous day.

See if you get nabbed on each day. My bet is that day 2 is more likely to cause problems.

The problem here is perception, I think. Anyone with a professional looking camera must be up to no good. Anyone with a dinky compact is a tourist. Which do you think the Police will spot? Which do you think the terrorists will use? Are the two the same?

Simple.. the police know that someone with a DSLR plus effing hoouge lens equates to an enthusiast/pro photogra and thus can be bullied/harrassed to their hearts content. Fully knowing they wont suddenly pull out a desert eagle with Teflon coated rounds to blow there knackers away.

Well, we all know terrorists like to post-process their raw files...

Why the police don't just track people down based on their Flickr accounts I don't know...

Journos should start saying to Police "I have no intention of answering your question. Please go away."

Then we just sit back and wait for the public outcry over the Met wasting public money on meaningless prosecutions (which probably won't succeed, either).

Nah, it's when you think you're being stalked by Alex Higgins.
