I think Google are being cleverer than that, this will (should) demonstrate that users aren't interested in the pay content, it's also a clever political move diffusing the row with Murdoch which could affect other Google income streams such as licensing Maps to News International.

That's what I'm hoping for from Google in the long run, but wouldn't NI be able to use Maps for free? I don't know much about Maps :oops: :?

I believe to use GMaps for commercial purposes there is some form of licensing fee, and that's just as a desktop app, I suppose it might be case of Google letting NI use Maps on the news as a marketing tool for free. Now that you mention i'm not sure???

Either way, they definitely appear on the Sky News site, so Murdoch looks a tit anyway :lol:
