Even though she is sharp, I am not sure how we could get my grandma to use the internet now. She feels she is too old for such things, though I (and just about anyone who meets her) remain to be convinced by her argument of increasing senility and incapability. I think for her it’s more of a lifestyle choice. I can’t see her being too happy if it was forced on her.

Oh, for those who have been following the saga, she’s now got a walking stick and is able to go outside.

What about those who can't get an internet connection?

Surely the interests of greater online participation would be much better served by making computers easier to use. At present they're still far too geek-oriented, complicated and unintuitive; the HCI element is sadly lacking in every computer. I refer you to my signature
