Hazel Blears: PM did not have 'full facts' on expenses

By “flipping” her second home three times within one year Miss Blears was able to purchase goods for multiple properties — all at the taxpayers’ expense. She was able to avoid paying capital gains tax on the sale of one property she had designated her second home by telling HM Revenue and Customs that it was her primary residence.

She sold the property in south London for £200,000, about £45,000 more than she paid for it. Revenue rules at the time of the sale stated that any profit made on a second home is subject to capital gains tax at 40 per cent. Miss Blears paid no capital gains tax because she had declared the home her primary residence.
