Ouch at the handset prices.

Seems about on a par with the other providers.

I agree about your comment on the prices for the handset though.

You can double your clubcard points up and all sorts now though  ;)

The PAYG prices and tarrifs are very good TBH.

Double your top up when you top up per month and free unlimited data!

That's VERY good!

I don't understand why they sell it as a "free WiFi connection" though? OK, they are giving you 12 months BT OpenZone but all of them say free WiFi?

No I can't. I don't shop at Tesco and therefore I don't have one of their spycards. :P

I don't mind their spycards, not with the amount of points I get for my Coke

Given the prices of similar / inferior phones without a contract, the prices for the lower rate contracts aren't that bad...

My old htc cost about €650 without a contract and that had 512MB RAM (18 months old). The 50 quid for the 32GB 3GS is very good, the equivalent deal here costs around 3 times that.

Hmm, these deals do look pretty good.

I'm pretty sure that my contract is due to end in the next couple of months. I could probably half my current spending if I keep my 3G and switch deals!

Okay, so I've checked on my o2 account and my contract expires on 31st Janurary.

I'll call them soon and inform them that I don't want to continue with the contract.

I've filled out their online form to get the phone unlocked, but does that mean I'm completely unrestricted?

I seem to remember that you could only put iphone sim cards in an iphone??? Is that still the case?

I'm going to start looking around for the best deal, but does it have to be a dedicated iPhone deal, or can it be any old SIM?

You should be able to use any sim in an unlocked phone providing it's a 3g sim.
You want a package with lots of data for an iphone, remember visual voicemail may only work on O2's contract network.

I popped into an Orange store today and they also said that any old SIM card would, which is good news.

That means the door is open for me to go Tesco on their Pay-as-you-go tariff - I love the fact that they'll give me free internet!

How does taking my number with me work? I get a PAC code from o2, but then what?

Erm... you do realise that in order to get the free data you'll have to buy the iPhone?

That's part of the deal.

Otherwise you'll have to pay extra for the internet.

There you go.

The website is a piece of cr*p though.

Looks like you can get unlimited data for £2 for 7 days.

And you still get the triple credit (or double if you only top up £10 a month). And you still get 5 half price UK numbers.

That's not bad actually.

£23 a month and you get unlimited data and £45 of credit.

Why bother?

O2 run the Tesco network
