Quote:
The prime minister said he would re-prioritise defence spending, with an extra £150m due to be spent on the UK's campaign in Afghanistan.

It will come as part of a substantial change in defence priorities with more money being diverted to pay for equipment to target improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and more helicopters, says the BBC's deputy political editor James Landale.

The cash, to be spent over three years, will see a specialist training base set up in Britain.

I don't have the link to hand, but The Guardian suggests the money will come from civilian cutbacks... And do we have an estimated withdrawal date those three years made me wonder? I can't recall if it's ever been mentioned :?

Call me niave but if this is to equip our forces on active duty, shouldn't this have been done [LIFTED] years ago. Ooh say when we first sent the troops over!!

So the lads in Afghanistan will get some more Chinooks sometime between now and 3 years time

Will we still be there in 2013?

I read the other week that the American's offerred us a really good deal on some spare Blackhawks they had but the MOD turned them down as they wanted to wait for either a British or European one instead - madness.
