Just like they always have done.

So we can confidently see the usage statistics for Opera to shoot up and conquer all before them.. oh thought not. What a waste of time and money.

I see they waited until after Windows 7's release. It still installed IE without asking when I installed it.

I quite like having IE there when I rebuild a PC for someone. I use it once to download firefox and then delete all shortcuts to it, and then use firefox to download all of the other software I need. Now that almost everyone has some sort of broadband, then with the frequency I have to do this sort of thing, it is far easier than making sure I have all the up to date files on some sort of external storage.

So is Windows/Microsoft Update not going to depend on IE from now on then?

You don't strictly need it in XP SP2 either... You can use the automatic updates to search select which updates you want as well.
