Did you see this segment last night?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/n ... 417295.stm

Newsnight gets a bunch of people, including global warming sceptics (joke used in the segment: some form the Top Gear audience) and subjected them to some scientific demonstration.

The scientific demonstration proved that CO2 can hep raise temperatures, but they didn’t really address the “man made” side of the argument, which is where a lot of the scepticism arises. They touched on the stoled emails, but again the scientists stopped seemed reluctant to discuss this too much. No one asked them any really pointed questions - for example, why are those scientists who present alternative theories smacked down so hard when it’s clear that the whole picture of Earth’s climate’s workings has yet to be figured out? I didn’t feel any more convinced after this segment than before. I personally think they found some rather weak-willed people who were easily manipulated by a couple of bottles and a degree.

As always the trouble with this sort of thing is statistics.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

There is a good series on the BBC at the moment about global warming, too.

Presented by a Scottish geologist, they did a show on the start of the global warming 'movement' and another about the sceptics.

I've not watched the third part yet, but it is available on iPlayer. I'm quite enjoying the series.
