Just for me personally, Galloway joins Nick Griffin and his BNP, Sinn Fein, Red Ken etc as people who can make themselves sound legit but you wouldn't trust them as far as you could throw them...

George Galloway deported from Egypt

http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2010 ... from-egypt

Quote:
On arriving at Heathrow airport, Galloway told the al-Jazeera television channel: "It's always been a badge of honour to be deported by a tinpot dictator, and that's what happened this morning.

George, of course, knows a dictator when he sees one:

If that's directed at me, I think you'll find I'd have agreed with you anyway ;)

IIRC there was quite some kerfuffle about Straw shaking Mugabe's hand at the time. And UKGov may well be a bunch of two faced hypocritical liers but Galway's a two faced hypocritical lier and a publicity whore, which is marginally worse.

They're all publicity whores.

At least Galloway got his fix by doing something useful.

I wonder what it would cost to get the Egyptians to put him in Prison there rather than deporting him.

Oh I don't know being right about every peice of Uk foriegn policy being wrong. Fact that this countries people can only be reached through publicity and the route to his show on talk sport, lecture tour and various other media apearences, very few of which are non political since CBB.
The fact that if we had listened to galloway on our foeign policy with Iraq and Afghanistan we wouldn't have a terror threat like we do now and we'd have several billion more to deal with the recession. Most of what government has been concerned about since 2003 is damge limitation, since the war ruined their credibility.

I don't see galloway resposible for any crime but guilt by association, just because he talks with a different set evil ner-do-wells as the governments of the world do makes no difference.

Just on the saddam hussien comment he made people forget, in our biased mind set, that in reality we should be saluting anybodies strength and courage in the face of a VILE Imperialistic policy that invades admittedly backward but politically stable countries to secure its own future, especially if they just aren't the most supportive backwards dictators.

And as far as helping aid convoys to get into the place where one of themost prolific hamanitarian crimes, since world war two has, occured as part and parcel of the israeli state is no bad thing and only goes to show no one ever made a statue to a critic.

Wrong and startlingly naive to boot.

Actually that's a function of politics, it happens to every government. Beyond a certain point they get in the mindset that the most important thing is staying in power not what they can do with the power they have. That's why we have elections every so often. And why people who have been in power for a long time almost always end up being mad dictators (although that is a bit chicken & the egg, I'll grant you).

in my opinion Galloway is almost continually guilty of using other people's causes to promote himself. Take his most recent escapade. Exactly what did he expect to achieve and has it done anything other than gain him personal publicity?

What? Saddam Hussain is among the most evil bastards that existed in the last half of the twentieth century and the idea that anyone other than him is to blame for the atrocities he committed is bunk. If you give me a gun, I still have the choice to shoot someone or not with it. If I do, it's my action and my guilt. Your guilt in providing the means to your act is entirely subsidiary to that. That why we have shorter sentences for supplying weapons than we do for murder.

Or a self-pubicist.
