The announcement would have had a bigger impact if a member of the company hadn't already said the TVs wouldn't go mainstream until at least 2012

Sonly, Panasonic and Samsung are all talking up 3D. Each uses its own proprietary shutter based glasses. I am kind of wondering if we will be seeing different formats competing for dominance again.

I’ll stay 2D until that and the inevitable seizures have been sorted out.
