Quote:
The Associated Press has been at the forefront of the newspaper industry's battle against news aggregators such as Google News, with AP promising to lead a campaign against the search engine back in April.

"We can no longer stand by and watch others walk off with our work under misguided legal theories," AP's chairman Dean Singleton told the company's Annual Meeting. "We are mad as hell, and we are not going to take it any more."

I thought Google were paying them for it anyway, which presumably is now gonna lose quite a bit of money in the current dodgy economic climate :?

Also, Singleton sounds like an arse on every level there

I wonder where Murdoch is in all this ;)

Meh, who needs the AP when I have the BBC.

Not sure that's an appropriate use of a Network quote mind. :|

The Beebs is about the only news site I access everyday from here, it's brilliant for keeping up with the news back home and they provide weather reports for here too. :)

That'll explain why I couldn't find an article I knew was on AP using Google News last night to post on here.

This is just going to hurt the news providers in the long run. They’ll notice a drop off of traffic and go crawling back to Google.

I hope that wasn't intentional!

I think you're correct though.

That's what I suspect too - it's hard not to think that they're just angling for more money...
