GT5 delayed again.... no ETA in sight

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/201 ... ed-again/1

Quote:
GT5 was set to be released in March this year in Japan, with a western version following at some point after. Now, Sony has said it will not meet that deadline and does not know when the game will finally be released, citing "production issues" in a comment to Reuters.

(may need to be posted in Gaming thread?)

It does however feature the new SLS AMG. I'm almost tempted to get a PS3 just for this when it comes out. Will have to check they've sorted the camera issues from GT4.

It might be quicker to save up for a real SLS ;)

I bought a PS2 for GT3... I think I ended up with GT3 and GTA3 on it, and that was about all I ever played - well, I got one of the GTA upgrades as well, something stories...

I honestly feel it's going in that direction. IMO this should have come out about the same time as Forza 3.

Like Dr Dre's Detox album, I've given up all hope.

Isn't there a GT5 Nissan demo already on PSN? Or is that something different? :?

There are two 'mini versions' of GT5 already available. GT5 Prologue is about 20 quid and has (I think) about 6 cars and 6 tracks. The new free one is called GT Academy has one car (Nissan 370z) and one track, and is effectively a 'game based application form' for a competition to find the best GT driver, who gets a trial as an actual BTCC river I believe...

The code is obviously done so it's obviously all about content generation. The problem with that stuff is you do need someone to say 'OK, that car looks enough like the real thing. Stick it in the repository and get on with something else'. Which patently isn't happening.

I have seen two suggestions for the delay:

• 3D TV (yawn). I can live without this.

• Damage - ie getting the heel draggers to allow damage to be applied to their precious trade marked designs. Not showing damage is just plain silly. It only takes one to sday “no” to make it impossible to do.
