http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8462717.stmYou could definitely argue around the 'looking after your own first' bit... Griffin will jump on any emotional issue of the day, just like the papers that hate him so much, but I'm kinda sick of hearing about us bailing out other countries too when we're in so much debt and about to pay heavily for it. Especially since you can almost guarantee that whatever we pledge will just never arrive or be pissed up the wall if history is anything to go by. That's my main problem with it all...

In the governments defence, any aid they promise to Haiti will probably never be paid up. No one will remember the poor bereaved brown people in a few months, so a few words now are cheap.
A serious question though; don't we have world something organisations funded to support such situations? If not, why not? I realise Haiti isn't in Europe, but surely they must be someone's friend?

No one remembers the people that are still stuck living in caravans after the flooding what, 2 years ago up north? People who've lost everything and are still no further forward with the promised help? Mind you, I think one of the fundamental differences between this country and Haiti, is that here nobody who having to sleep next to corpses with effluent. The homeless may be cold and hungry tonight, and that is a genuine pity, but it's pretty small potatoes compared to what Haiti's dealing with. The world's a nasty place.

The real pity is that he raises a decent issue....
... but he does it like a twot.

Even America needed help after Katrina a few years ago. Very few if any countries would be able to cope with that level of devastation. I think Mr Griffin needs to acknowledge the difference between say sending tents to Haiti and using UK taxpayers' money to subsidise factories abroad as our own shut.

Even if we assume his claim regarding 50,000 pensioners dying of cold is remotely accurate, Griffin still raises a false equivalence. We aren't sending money to Haiti for the benefit of the 50,000 who are already dead there, but for the far greater number who now have no shelter, water or food at all.
