I'm assuming he's held on communications issues (having a sat phone without a permit). At least they're tracking down people using comms without a permit (if only they could track the bloke in a cave with a sat phone)

You're getting confused, it's only 'good to talk' when it's the call centre in India you're talking to ;)

I was under the impression that a fair number of countries have some sort of licensing regime for such things? Certainly when I visited the Russian Federation I had to leave my mobile phone behind in the United Kingdom because you need a licence to use a mobile phone in Russia. :?
