I accept a lot of what he's saying, but would also argue that 'average' Muslims could maybe do more to speak out against the nutters in their midst - a lot of lunatics and scrotes only get away with their actions because not enough people protest against them, my country being a very good example...

I suspect the silent muslims fall into more than one band:
1 - Those who have no real opinion
2 -Those who disagree with the nutters, but keep quiet
3 - Those who agree with the nutters, but keep quiet
4 - Those who appear to disagree, but secretly think “good on them”

This would be true for any cause - religious or secular.
