Clearly not the sharpest pencil in the case. Though maybe the insurance company should refuse to pay out as she clearly did not take sensible precautions.

Well if insurance companies in California are anything like their British counterparts, they'll refuse to pay out on the basis that there are no signs of forced entry.

Yes but how many people can tolerate a $1.2 Million loss if the insurance company will not pay out. Not a lot I would suspect.
