Thoughts?

Been a long time since I bought a single (other than RATM there :) ), so I was never gonna buy the sort of albums they're talking about.

They wanna admit to themselves that even pop music can be too crap and/or cheesy :lol:

And how come their rivals are doing so much better? :?

isnt it obvious.. everyone pirates EMI music and leaves everyone else alone.


My music now days is usually bought at gigs straight from the artist and thus they profit and not from some cruddy label :D or off ebay/second hand because the dumb flipwits make it ever so difficult to actually buy older music.

For decades they've taken and given nothing back. They've been willing proponents of the wholesale slaughter of the music industry.

Looking at the list of artists on EMI's site, the only one I'd spend any money on is Pink Floyd...who have split up...so I'm unlikely to be boosting their profits any time soon.

That is my reason as well. Though the music industry started the whole fiasco when they created compilation albums. They now account for some 40% of all sales. Single downloads are just another extension of that same policy. I can totally understand why single downloads are selling well. They are substantially cheaper than the CD Single and is therefore a sensible choice for the majority. You get the single track that you want without buying all that filler.

I only ever bought CD singles when they were like, 50p to £1 - the morons could probably still be selling them at around that price in stores if they'd had any sense in the past* :oops:

Some singles were genuinely worth buying because of the 'B-sides'. As ever, the music industry didn't realise that worthwhile content is what sells :roll:

* There was also some sort of ruling brought in where you could only have three (?) tracks on your single unless they were remixes or a video or some such nonsense :roll:

What about EP's? if CD singles were on sale for less than a £1 then they would have sold well. CD singles were grossly over priced, I saw them on sale for £3 or £4. That is ridiculous.

As for falling album sales, it does not help that much of the albums are just filler, with few tracks actually worth listening to. It might have explained why compilations took off so well.

It helps if you're buying good artists' stuff to begin with I spose :)
