Well having a minimum wage is one thing, though the Conservatives have pledge to let it "Whither on the vine" and neither party will address job security because it affects businesses.

The problem is that if you increase security to much firms will not employ new people if they cannot get rid of them

This has happened in France where if you take someone on it very difficult ( and expensive) to sack them so firms just don’t grow and international firms expand overseas

I agree to an extent, but if they are too flexible then companies will just fire people before the deadline of them becoming permanent, as I have seen at one company. A constant revolving door does not help employees build up decent CV's or work histories. One year is more than enough to determine if someone is adequate for the job.
