Fair enough, but has anyone considered the CO2 emmissions, eh? That's the real issue here ;)

Typically shoddy reporting from the Beeb

If it was a funeral in Northumberland he should have taken it to Northumberland County Council in Morpeth, not Newcastle City council. Why Newcastle CC is commenting on matters that shouldn't concern them probably demonstrates how lazy the reporter was in actually reporting the matter.

Either the burial was NOT in Northumberland as stated in the article or the reporting is so bad they don't know their backside from their elbow and that they believe Newcastle is in Northumberland

Well I don't know what the administrative boundaries for Newcastle CC are, but either way that doesn't change the legal position, nor the interpretation of the Ministry of Justice, so a court case would still have been necessary.

That is my concern. I hope the family handed over carbon credits for the pyre.

They could put a boiler in the pyre and connect that to an electric generator and boom they could sell the electricity back to the national grid

er.. hang on why not have that in every crematorium as well.

No you have an open flame and you take your sausages and burgers. Why waste all that heat and flame? ;)

Actually get the BNP there and while they are shouting burn in hell or whatever they do, then push them in to add to the flames as part of the "sacrifice". :D
