A lot of the problems are down to legal immigrants creating animosity amongst the deprived sectors of the population. That is why the BNP have done well recently. The main parties love immigration because it creates downward pressure on wages, usually those of the lower paid. It is good for businesses, but not so much for the locals. The same applies everywhere where cheap foreign labour swamps a local population. The Germans have issues with the Turkish population.

While the bombing of Dresden had little strategic value so late in the war, it was more of an attempt on breaking national morale.Just as the fire-bombing of Coventry or the east end of London by the Germans. The Germans had committed many atrocities by then and should have expected such retaliations.

Germany's problem is a shrinking population. Immigration was one way to cope with it. They've also tried promoting families with more tax breaks and 1 year off, paid, for fathers.

The National Socialist party (and other extreme parties, which encourage racial hatred) are illegal here. You can't be a member of them and they are not recognised as parties which can stand for election.

Würzburg was also badly damaged, along with many other cities.

Quote:
During World War II, on March 16, 1945, about 90% of the city was destroyed by some 225 Lancaster bombers in 17 minutes by a British air raid.

After the war, one of the American generals wanted to leave the city a devastated waste, as a reminder to the devastation of war. But the people of Würzburg rallied and they rebuilt the city, including rebuilding all the destroyed historic buildings in their original style.
