I find that really hard to believe - he would never have fitted in one.  Correct and you will pay for that  Nor can I but I would have loved to have seen it.  Soundly asleep sadly.  Nice idea.

Why? The article is wrong. The hotel is at hensol, a junction away from the service station. According to the Welsh news, they drove down the hard shoulder of the M4.
