SeeSaw has revealed around 2,000 hours of paid-for premium content will be made available on the online TV service during Q2.

The service, which uses the technology originally employed for the Project Kangaroo venture, was made publicly available in February, after less than a month of a closed beta trial of 20,000 web users.

The free service offers around 3,000 hours of TV programmes from the BBC, Channel 4 and Five, and is similar to music-streaming service Spotify because the content available is peppered with 60-second adverts that can not be skipped.

Arqiva, the company which owns SeeSaw, revealed it has struck a deal with financial service Neovia that will allow web users to pay for the premium content via credit and debit cards using its Netbanx system or transfer money to SeeSaw from Neteller e-wallets.

Neovia said the payments would be a mix of one-off micro-payments and on-going subscriptions.

"SeeSaw will introduce premium content to the site in the second quarter of 2010," said John Keeling, platform controller at SeeSaw.

"It will be imperative that our customers experience a seamless and consistent service. We are pleased to be working with the Neovia team as they have a proven and flexible payment network with technology that suits our business model."
