http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8524056.stmI have to say I'm rather puzzled with this. I don't have an issue eating Halal or Kosha meat . What are your thoughts? edit - correcting typos

Halal and Kosher meat IIRC does not conform to animal welfare guidelines but are exempt due to being religious requirements for a subsection of society. But I personally could give a flying monkey.

Cows are usually slaughtered quickly by a bolt to the head, except when done ritually in which the cow is basically tortured upside and dies in absolute terror. Graphic video: http://www.petatv.com/tvpopup/Prefs.asp ... osher_beefI'd rather go vegetarian than eat an animal killed that way. A lot of people do feel the same way. I don't actually eat beef anyway, but seriously WTF. Why would anyone do that? It's barbaric.

I think that religious exemptions are ridiculous, I am not a veggie, but I eat as little meat as possible partly because of the green issues. If Halal and Kosher cannot be produced humanely then it should be banned.

Indeed, Halal and Kosher laws simply state that if you are going to eat meat it must be killed thusly. It doesn't anywhere stipulate that meat HAS to be eaten.

I refuse to eat Halal or Kosher meat. I believe the preparation of such meat is cruel to the animal.
What really [LIFTED] me off, is that a lot of places just assume that everyone is happy to eat Halal/Kosher meat, so will buy this instead of regular meat.

It is cruel to the animal, but it is healthier for us to eat... The blood is drained off, which it isn't when animal is shot, which takes out some toxins etc.
I can't eat meat anyway, so the point is moot for me.

Yes but a decent butcher will hang the meat so that is also irrelevant. Just get your meat from a decent butcher.
