Interesting concept, and I'm assuming it's maybe part of the whole future 'games on demand' angle...

Quote:
According to the patent, the peripheral would contain a touch-sensitive LCD screen on the front.

This screen would allow users to shape the layout of their buttons to fit whichever console they were playing - or to create a makeshift keyboard for PC control.

The patent even says the device could be tailored to work with old Amiga, Jaguar and Sega consoles.

Hmmm, starting to sound very fanciful now

It will be the last game controller that you ever get and Sony will get paid for every single one. That is their dream and once there are no other game controllers they will raise prices dramatically.

That's what I thought too, but I was struggling to remember when that sort of maneuver ever worked for Sony  :?

It's a configurable LCD screen, so it'll be pants compared to anything with buttons/triggers, you simply won't get the same tactile response.

Say what you want about the xbox console but the controller is brilliant, the design of the sony would have to be spot on to even come close.

Sly as it is of Sony to patent the concept, I can't see a product resulting from it being hugely successful, especially as it won't be cheap.
