I'll be using the city airport in May, hopefully the snow/ice issue won't be manifest then. (8+)

Actually I can't see anything wrong with using brushes. In extreme cases you would use brushes to get the bulk off and then the chemicals for the last remnants.

Bristol Flyer from Airport to Temple meads then train is best bet.
