There are many things that don't add up with this case. The Government says he should be extradited while Judges say there are plenty of grounds not to and the fact that they only have a week to lodge an appeal against this when usually they get 3 months is also very odd.

It is serious, the guy could get the death penalty.

I think more likely he'll get the brain drain.

US military will want to know if he's seen evidence of space patrols etc.

No he won't, the UK has a policy whereby it will not extradite people who face a death sentence.

He's basically a victim of politics between the two governments, though he's only got himself to blame IMO...

UK Policy is, well, sometimes open to interpretation and negotiation.

The US have not explicitly ruled it out as a possible outcome.

It would be a breach of his Human Rights and the Courts would block any attempt to extradite him on that basis. Not to mention that the death penalty is incompatible with Community Law, so we'd be in for the high jump with the Commission too.

Westminster has no room to manoeuvre over this, they cannot extradite him if he faces the death penalty. Simples.

I hope that's the case.

Mind you they still want to extradite him to face possible, probable, imprisonment whereas the law here would almost definitely not result in a custodial sentence.

Just send the begger over there. Why he thinks he should be immune from trial just because he's has an illness is beyond me.

That's not much of an attitude, the American people only get a minimum of input into their governments actions, exactly the same way as it is over here. Blowing a whole shed-load of innocent people to pieces isn't going to solve anything at all.

I don't care where he gets tried, his crime may have been committed on UK soil, but the crime was against America so I don't see why he shouldn't be extradited, he's more likely to get the book thrown at him in the US than he will here, and in this world of "cross-global communication" there is going to need to be some sort of precedent set for this kind of crime.

i would agree with that if it was to be reciprocated
but sadly that is not the case as its just a one way avenue
and that avenue runs directly too the USA not to the UK …
