You seem to have a loathing for the very concept of the existence of nation states … Perhaps that's because you come from Belgium, which is pretty much a non-country.

He threw a series of personal insults at President of the European Council, Herman van Rompuy.

Indeed. Just watch the tirade on the 10 o'clock news.
Whatever one thinks of the EU there is no need whatsoever to be so rude and offensive to a work colleague.

Maybe he is just a Douglas Adams fan...

Less offensive words have been created in the many languages of the galaxy, such as joojooflop, swut and Holy Zarquon's Singing Fish.

The use of bad language can have unforseen circumstances. One example is the war between the G'gugvunts and the Vl'hurgs, caused by a casual remark made by Arthur Dent being mistaken as a terrible insult.

Simultaneous Babel Fish translation also means that any being can be rude to any other being without the need for extensive explanations. This has also started many wars.

The reason the Earth has been shunned for so long is also due to a language problem. On Earth, Belgium refers to a small country. Throughout the rest of the galaxy, Belgium is the most unspeakably rude word there is.

Although I thought it was the Canadians who didn't have a country they could call their own...

"Who are you? I'd never heard of you..." Mr Farage thundered, as noisy disapproval at his intervention in the chamber rose.

Maybe that is what happens, when you submit a Euro Sceptic as a Euro MP?

Quote:
In a typically low-key response to the comments, Mr Van Rompuy said: "There was one contribution that I can only hold in contempt, but I'm not going to comment further."

Not his mother tongue and still more eloquent than Farage. Touché :)

I get the feeling that Farage and his crew were going to do nothing as an MEP. They then found out that they have to work with, and rub shoulders with the bloody foreigners whom they hate so much.

Farage was probably expecting an American style president - a public figure. Instead, the President of the EU Council is more of a “chairman of the board”. A far less public figure, which should really please Farage as it lets national heads of state take precedence. No pleasing some people, eh?

I think the best way to look at it is the UK is as if it was a family that argues with each other quite a lot :D.

A vote for UKIP is pretty much a wasted vote. They probably do it because they can rant all they like and stick their noses in the trough for all the cash and perks that come with the job.

No

It is a union of separate nations.

You'd think there was an election coming up, wouldn't you? ;)

He raised some good questions and points.

However I do have issues with a rich, posh man with a French surname, haranguing people about Europe, talking about democracy and using only true concerns to manage to look like a twot.

Radio 4 this morning were commenting on the fact that he is going to stand for MP, so maybe we should vote UKIP as it will definitely split the Tory vote?
