What a load of cobblers. Granted, our Wii isn't used every day, or every week for that matter, but when we do switch it on the whole family plays. We all have fun, if that isn't entertaining I don't know what is. For that reason it permanently sits under the telly, rather than being boxed up and put in a cupboard. I have no problem calling it a toy, because you can loosely describe all consoles as toys, but it is a socially focussed toy. |

It's admittedly hard to tell ![]() Wouldn't call it a toy as such, but I think it's definitely become a 'novelty' that's lost it's appeal for many. The Wii apparently even struggles to sell the licenced crap (big movie tie-ins for example) that's plagued other consoles for decades. Hell, it struggles to appeal outside it's core franchises from what I've seen ![]() ![]() |

I would regard it as a low spec console. It has a niche market and for that it does well. It may not appeal to the hard core gamers. |

I'd love to know what Nintendo are planning as a follow-up. In a way the motion controls have maybe painted them into a bit of a corner - I honestly think they'll need something of a return to traditional games and controllers if even their current customer base is to be maintained ![]() I think this man has the right idea in the long run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMU0tzLwhbE |
