TWiT were talking about it on Sunday. Allegedly it wouldn't be in the search stream, but in your normal stream - ever 200th or so tweet would be an ad.
The ads would be targeted, being related to what people are tweeting about and would also be location aware, if you have the location tracking turned on...
Can't say I like the idea, but the service has to find some way to pay for itself.
Maybe a "fremium" model would be good, you can pay a couple of bucks a year for a no-advert stream, otherwise you get the ads?
