The starch of the Amflora potato can be utilised for industrial uses like making paper, and for animal feed - but not for human consumption.

Yes but plant genes are very leaky and what is to stop these genes ending up in other vegetables. Also what safeguards are there to stop abuse by the GM industry against farmers whose crops have been tainted with GM pollen?

Monsanto have been chasing farmers who never bought their seed for damages when their crops were polluted with GM pollen. I hope that is fixed here, or else GM will get banned outright.

I was thinking the same thing. Is the GM Potato the replacement for the Hummer?
